ALEX HAMILTON
ASYLUM 2018
A childhood tale of madness, magic and a quirky town I called home. My bizarre Karoo childhood in Nelspoort, a rehabilitation center for the mentally ill in the ‘70s, not only sparked a lot of creativity, but also had a huge influence on my adult views of people in general. Using the pop-culture phenomenon of the film, "One flew over the cuckoo's nest" as metaphor, and actual hospital curtains as canvases, "Asylum" was not only a joyful, but also cathartic exhibition to make.
